Allen Porterie is an actor, singer, writer and scholar based in New York City.
My name is Allen Porterie and I am a curious human who explores their questions through various performance modes. I involve myself in projects that are emotionally rich and thought provoking. I activate the hearts and minds of an audience equally. As a world builder and storyteller, I inspire vision through the narratives I lend my voice to. Calling forth the imagined future into present reality is my mission. I hope you’ll join me in the journey.
I am currently a Company Management Assistant on the Broadway revival of Gypsy, starring Audra McDonald.
Education:
MFA, Performance as Public Practice | The University of Texas at Austin

Artistic Statement
As an artist-scholar, I am intent on telling stories of Black queer experiences.
Black queer children deserve to see themselves as dynamic and multi-dimensional.
Black queer folks deserve to see themselves represented inside and out of the bedroom.
I intend to reflect the many elements that affect our lives and the precarity that can surround our lives too.
I remain open and curious to what depths can be explored through staged and filmic representations of Black queer lived experiences.
As I continue to branch out of the Bible Belt South, I plan to tell stories not only of American Blackness but to also retrace the lineage of Black queerness globally.
